Broadsword Events
In addition to the Highland Broadsword competitions, we will also be hosting workshops and a dinner
Broadsword Workshop
For those interested in learning Highland Single Stick, Scottish Small Sword and Highland Broadsword, there are a series of workshop courses planned for Thursday, July 28th at the Maxville Fair Grounds in the Beer Tent. Highland Single Stick and Broadsword workshops will be lead by the renowned US instructor and competitor, Jonathan MacKenzie Gordon, who is also a member of the Cateran Society. The workshops are open to both adults and youth (ages 11-17), with classes tailored to intermediate and advanced students as well and first time beginners. Also covered will be the use of Indian Clubs by Louka Kurcer, a training system heavily used by broadsword and saber fencers in the 19th century, and which is going through a recent revival as a popular method of conditioning. Louka is the founder, owner and head instructor of Hardstyle Kettle Bell in Montreal. Please see registration for additional details.
