The Transport Board and the Highland Games announce the "Train to the Games"

The North Glengarry Prescott & Russell Transport Board and the Glengarry Highland Games announce details of a train excursion to and from the Glengarry Highland Games at Maxville on August 2nd 2008. The cooperation of Transport 2000 Québec and two stores, one in Pointe Claire and one in Ottawa -as well as that of VIA Rail - are noteworthy. Their support will make local access to ticket purchase possible in each city. All this is offered with a goal of traffic reduction and for relaxing, carefree and green travel to the Games.

On Saturday August 2nd, VIA Rail Canada trains will be used to carry 68 persons from Ottawa and 68 others from Montréal and Dorval to the Highland Games in Maxville. The morning departures towards Maxville, with a few local stops, will leave Montréal at 10:00 am and leave Ottawa at 9:50 am. Return trips will leave Maxville about 6:35 pm for Dorval and Montréal and at 7:40 pm for Ottawa allowing participants to take in most of the events. The trains will make a special stop at the entrance to the Games site where travellers will be welcomed to the Games.

The capacity of VIA Rail Canada is less than originally foreseen, because of summer travel requirements in its regular services. Also, because of extra costs, VIA was not able to offer a later evening departure from Maxville. The number of seats being limited, prospective passengers should buy their (combined train with Games) tickets early

The train fare will be $20 return from Ottawa and $30 from Montréal for all ages (children under two free) and admission to the Games will cost $20 (children under 12 free).

The organisers wish to thank VIA Rail Canada for making these exceptionally low fares available!
